Lawyer: Kerimov sold his Uralkali share to free his business partner

Moscow's well-known defense lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky wrote in his Facebook that Suleiman Kerimov sold his share in Uralkali potash fertilizer producer in exchange for freedom for his partner [Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgarten]. He is quoted by RBK as writing that the sale will be completed within the next couple of days. The buyer has already paid 20 percent of the total amount.

According to the lawyer, Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgartner will be released from a KGB prison in Minsk within the same period of time. He will keep his CEO position in the company, Dobrovinsky said. He added that Belarusian authorities were totally hapyy with this turn of events.

The Investigatory Committee of Belarus is investigating a criminal case against Uralkali CEO and its key shareholder Suleiman Kerimov. Uralkali head is being held in a KGB jail in Minsk.
