Bykau about country-house: "I couldn't write there"
The writer's relatives presented the country-house which he built for his own money to the state.
"This is a present to the state. The
state administration agreed to make an exhibition there. We plan to preserve a
part of the country-house - a memorial room of Vasil Bykau, a living room, and
use some premises of this very small country-house for the exhibition", - says director of the Literature Museum Lidziya Makarevich.
The
writer's wife - Iryna Bykava - made quite an expensive present. The
country-house is located not far from Minsk - in Zhdanovichy. Pieces of land of
6-12 acres cost 25-50 thousand USD there, some even 100 thousand USD. And these
are just pieces of land, without a house.
They
plan to open a museum in Bykau's country-house to the 90th anniversary of the
writer - in 2014.
