The Belarusian authorities keep repeating that "sanctions do not work" and that the economy is working well. However, on March 16, a meeting with Aliaksandr Lukashenka was devoted to "saving budgetary funds" ("and not only the budgetary ones"). He told his colleagues that budget funds "should be allocated where they are needed". Obviously, there is not enough money.

The meeting was attended by Economic Director Yury Nazarau, Head of Administration Ihar Siarheyenka, Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasil Herasimau, Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchyk, Head of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Aliaksandr Turchyn, and Finance Minister Yury Seliverstau.

Also on Thursday, Lukashenka met with his "special envoy" Viktar Sheiman. Again, they talked about money, more specifically, Belarusian projects in Africa.
