Belarus seeks to buy up to 3.5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products annually from Kazakhstan, the Russian news agency TASS reports quoting Kazakhstan's Deputy Energy Minister Aset Magauov.

"Belarus has expressed an interest not only in the deliveries of crude oil but also the petroleum products, which can be refined, such as gas oil and fuel oil. The total volume is around 3.5 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products annually," Mr. Magauov said.

The shipments would be split in half between crude oil and dark petroleum products as raw materials for refining.

The official added that the talks were in progress about the mechanism of deliveries. The details of the deal, including the sellers and prices, would be discussed at the next stage of the negotiations.
