Belarus lacks cardiologists

The head part-time cardiologist of the Ministry of Healthcare, director of the National Scientific and Practical Centre “Cardiology” Alyaksandr Mrochak has informed about it.

There were 0.78 cardiologists per 10 thousand citizens in 2008 and 0.51 – in 2001.

The head cardiologist expressed a hope that the number of cardiologists would increase thanks to the planned increase of admission of students in medical higher educational institutions in 2009. However, the result will be come clear “in about six years”. It is also necessary to reconsider the staff of the cardiologic service, surgery departments and vascular diagnostics departments.

According to A.Mrochak, the problem of the salary of medical workers is being solved “rather poorly”.
