Belarus bids for 2013 World Ice Hockey Championship

Belarus has filed an application with the International Ice Hockey Federation, announcing its bid for hosting the 2013 World Ice Hockey Championship. The Belarus Ice Hockey Federation said it could guarantee the highest level of organization for this event. Belarus proposed to host matches in the cities of Minsk and Babrujsk.

Minsk will see the opening of a multifunctional Minsk Arena sports center in 2008. It will be able to accommodate 15,000 vicitors. A new 7,500-strong ice hockey palace will be built in Babrujsk.

Latvia, Sweden and Hungary are bidding for the hosting of the 2013 championship apart from Belarus. The bidders are expected to present their blue prints by late July, reports Belta.
