At the end of 2022 a citizen of Belarus, Yelizaveta Tsertsel, submitted documents for a visa to the U.S. Embassy in Astana (Kazakhstan). She also applied for a Schengen visa.

As Bypol found out, she is the daughter-in-law of Chairman of the KGB of Belarus Ivan Tsertsel, who has been on the U.S. sanctions list since June 21, 2021.

Yelizaveta Tsertsel works as an editor of criminal news program at Belteleradiocompany. BTRC has also been on the EU and U.S. sanctions lists since 2022.

In the U.S., she plans to visit Miami (Florida). As stated in the documents, the trip and accommodations at The MUTINY LUXURY SUITES HOTEL are paid for by her husband Miraslau Tsertsel. Like his father, he serves in the Belarusian KGB.

Over the past five years, the BT employee has traveled to Sweden, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Albania, and even Nepal.

According to Bypol, all information about the activities of the Tsertsel family has been forwarded to U.S. and EU officials for appropriate action.
