Year of Russian culture in Belarus to kick off in Opera and Ballet Theater on April 15

The Year of Russian Culture in Belarus will be opened in the restored Opera and Ballet Theater in Minsk on April 15, Belarus's first deputy culture minister Uladzimir Rylatka told reporters. The dancers of the State Academic Grand Theaters will have to test Belarus's main stage after reconstruction. Chaikovsky's Swan Lake has been chosen as an "exam" for the launch.

Throughout the whole year, Russian artistes will perform in Belarus, but the most significant concerts will be held during the Day of Russia and the Day of Moscow at the international arts festival Slavik Bazaar in July in Vitsebsk.

In November, Belarus will also host a concert of Russia's State Symphonic Orchestra managed by Vladimir Fedoseev. The Year of Belarusian Culture in Russia will take place in 2010, reports BELTA.
