Yanukovych in Vilnius: I was face to face with strong Russia for 3.5 years

Angela Merkel and Dalia Grybauskaitė talked to Victor Yanukovych before the working dinner with state and government leaders in Vilnius.

The video of this informal conversation was published on the internet, informs UNIAN. In particular, it is seen in the video that Grybauskaitė says it is still unknown whether all the states will sign the Association Agreement Ukraine-EU. "However, if you would sign it..." says the Lithuanian President. Nothing is heard clearly later on, but the tone of the conversation lets understand that she tries to convince Yanukovych to sign the document. The Ukrainian President replies there is already the government's decision in this regard.

When Merkel joined the conversation, Yanukovych started telling her that "the economic situation in the country is very complicated" and "we have some very serious threats". "I would like you to hear me. I have been alone for three and a half years. I was face-to-face with a very strong Russia, in unequal conditions," the Ukrainian leader told the German Chancellor.
