Will Belaya Rus become a power organization?

Mikalaj Lazavik says "one should not exagerate the powers of this organization". Since Belaya Rus seeks a public association status not a political party, it will not be able to nominate candidates for the 2008 parliamentary elections.

“The efficiency of a new organization during the elections depends mainly on whether it is to become a pro-active organization which reflects the attitudes of voters or to turn into a bureaucratic structure,” the secretary of the Central Elections Commission said in an interview with the Zviazda newspaper.

Mikalaj Lazavik says he expects a lower turnout at the 2008 parliamentary elections compared to the previous vote. "People have somewhat less interest in parliamentary elections" different from the presidential elections or national referenda, he noted.

Lazavik reminded that the Central Elections Commission regarded October 12, 2008 as the best date for the next parliamentary vote.
