Vedomosti: Lukashenka sent letters to Russian regional governors

Belarus president Alexander Lukashenka sent letters directly to the governors of the Russian regions, trying to explain the causes of the Belarus-Russia conflict, reports the Russian newspaper Vedomosti quoting a source close to the office of the Russian president. However, none of the Russian governors that were approached have confirmed the alleged listing.
The Russian newspaper describes it as a "a Belarus PR-campaign", which includes the stories in several opposition newspapers in Russia.

Meanwhile, the Belarus leader has been in the resort city of Sochi, according to the Russian media. But the Belarusian official news agency BELTA reports that Lukashenka has been in Russia "on a working visit". He is scheduled to hold talks with Russia's president Dmitry Medvedev at the end of the week, because the Russian leader will be busy on a visit in Mongolia through August 27.
