VAT may go up to 22%
It totals 20% now. The change may be introduced next year.
The suggestion is going to be discussed by the Parliament soon, BelaPAN reports. The value added tax makes up a third of Belarus’ budget funds.
"The issue was discussed by the Council of Ministers in July,” a tax policy expert who took part in the meeting told BelaPAN.
The VAT increase suggestion has already been included in the bill of amendments that may be added to the Tax Code in 2015, some sources report.
The VAT increase will negatively affect Belarus’ economic appeal in the Customs Union, Belarusian business unions think. The VAT totals 18% in Russia and 12% - in Kazakhstan.
By the way, the income tax is supposed to be decreased from 18% to 15% in 2015.
