US Department of State expects Ambassador Karen Stuart to return to Minsk

The US Ambassador Karen Stuart will return to Minsk after a consultation, thinks the US Department of State.

The press secretary of the Department of State Sean McCormack confirmed that the Ambassador had already left Belarus and was in Vilnius. According to him, Karen Stuart will stay in the Lithuanian capital for a while before leaving for Brussels and then - for Washington.

Let us remind you that the Belarusian Ambassador to the USA Mihail Hvastou was withdrawn from Washington on March 7. It was caused by the necessity to give him a consultation in connection with the sanctions the USA had imposed on the “Belnaftahim” concern.

At the same time, the Belarusian government pronounced “an insistent demand” that the American Ambassador should leave Belarus for the same reason.
