Uladzіmіr Nyaklyayeu admits he will run for President
He thinks that the most important thing is not his own victory, but the victory of a democratic candidate. That is why he considers all the other democratic candidates to be his allies. An article of Ulazdimir Nyaklyayeu claiming that the “Tell the Truth!” campaign is aimed at the presidential elections has appeared on the website “Belarusian News”. The leader of the campaign implies that he will run for President.
Nyaklyayeu has told ERB that this is not an official statement about becoming a contender but a personal opinion of a citizen:
Nyaklyayeu: "I think everyone understands it… It’s just I officially think that you can join the presidential campaign only when the elections are announced and you have officially joined it. Of course, we will take part in the presidential campaign! But this is not an official statement. It is a personal opinion of a citizen in the circumstances we are offered for organization of our activity”.
Nyaklyayeu thinks that the most important thing is not his own victory, but the victory of the democratic camp. That is why he considers all the other democratic candidates his allies. He says that it is essential to decide who will struggle with Lukashenka.
Nyaklyayeu: "One representative of the opposition should struggle with one representatives of the authorities – Lukashenka – at these elections. It doesn’t matter who will be an addition to this pair – Haidukevich or some other opposition member (or so-called opposition)”.
From this point of view – unity and victory – Nyaklyayeu has not supported the idea of the BNF Party to sign “The Manifest on Protection of National Interests”. He said that every additional measure made negotiations more complicated. In Nyaklyayeu’s opinion the idea of “The Manifest” looks like a PR action.
