In the backstage of the parliament, the Euroradio correspondent asked Transport and Communications Minister Anatol Sivak when the government planned to bring payment for public transport rides to 100% by the population. The minister was unable to reply and even confused the price of public transport tickets.

Anatol Sivak: When it comes to the tariffs, you better ask the Anti-monopoly ministry. Our ministry focuses to reduce the self-cost of transportation services. In some regions, recoupment of transportation reaches 75%.

Euroradio: Do you know how much a ticket for public transport in Minsk should cost to cover 100% of expenditures?

Anatol Sivak: If transportation is recouped at the level of 75% and 25% is subsidized, one can calculate: 50 kopecks + 25%. How much will it be? I guess 62.5 kopecks… You can calculate."

As of today, one ride on public transport in Minsk costs 60 kopecks and 65 kopecks in the Metro.
