‘Teaching’ benefits: 50 bonus minutes on mobile phone

Rector of the Belarusian State Maxim Tank Pedagogical University Alyaksandr Zhuk suggested benefits for teachers: access to museums at half the ticket price and the mobile phone tariff ‘Teacher’.

“We suggested giving pedagogues free or beneficial access to museums and theatres. The biggest mobile operators have created and are introducing a special tariff for teachers – there will be discounts for calls and Internet,” the agency Minsk-News quotes the rector.

The education committee of Minsk City Executive Committee cannot recall a single benefit for teachers. They told us to ask MTS about it.

MTS does not offer a tariff for teachers. But they have promised to create one.

“There is no such a tariff at the moment. We are working on it but we cannot comment on the details now.”

Life offers no benefits for teachers either. However, teachers can phone their colleagues for free if they use Velcom. They can discuss their salaries together…

“Teachers can switch to our special corporative tariff. They can chose 200 free minutes on Velcom or 50 free minutes in the other networks. The plan includes 100 Mb for free. Phone calls to colleagues are also free,” the operator described the tariff.

Teachers cannot enter the National Arts Museum for free. The museum has not been informed about the BSPU rector’s suggestion.

“It has not even been discussed yet,” the museum replied.

Volha, ex-teacher of history from Maladzechna, has suggested giving state rented flats and public transport benefits to teachers:

“I would like to attend interesting courses for teachers abroad instead of qualification courses. It would allow adding something new to lessons. It would be good to have public transport benefits, to be paid for overtime work and to rent flats from the state.”

Volha quit teaching right after her 2-year term of obligatory placement. The girl graduated from the BSU faculty of history. Her last teaching salary was Br3.5 million.
