Senegalese MPs decide to free Russian fishing vessel

The Senegalese Parliament has decided to free the Russian fishing vessel Oleg Naidyonov, ria.ru reports. The incident may spoil Russia–Senegal and Guinea-Bissau–Senegal relations, MPS think.

However, the Minister of Fishing and Ocean farming Haidar El Ali is taking time fulfilling the Parliament’s order.

Senegalese soldiers detained the Russian fishing vessel Oleg Naidyonov on January 4, Russian mass media report. It happened 46 miles off the shore of Guinea-Bissau. The authorities suspected the sailors of illegal fishing in Senegalese waters and are planning to fine the company that owns the ship with €600 thousands and confiscate the cargo.

43-year-old Belarusian Alyaksandr Yakunovich is a sailor on board the ship.
