Russians suspected of stealing vehicles from car rentals in Belarus

Three Russian nationals have been detained by the police in Minsk on suspicion of stealing vehicles from car rental companies in Belarus.  The police say the Russians could be associated with 15 cases of rental fraud committed in the Belarusian capital over the past two years.

Investigators determined that the swindlers used forged documents to rent expensive cars from rental companies and left for Russia afterward. They would later sell them illegally in Russia. Most of the stolen cars have not been found. Only two vehicles were recovered in the Russian cities of Smolensk and Mozhaisk and returned to their legal owners in Belarus.
