Russia conducts military exercise near Polish and Lithuanian borders
Ships are protecting the border and marine communications during the exercise. They will need to detect and destroy enemy submarines. The airborne troops and marines will practice the defence of the coast in the situation of enemy troops landing.
Fighters SU-34 and helicopters Mi-24 will provide support in the air. Bombers Tu22M3 will conduct training flights over the Baltic Sea and practice air patrolling, RIA Novosti reports.
The military exercise in Kaliningrad Oblast and the NATO exercise Saber Strike-2014 and Baltops-2014 in Europe are being held simultaneously.
