Russia may cease energy supplies to Belarus due to debts

Russia may reduce energy supplies to Belarus twice due to “Belenergo”’s debts, informs the “Kommersant” newspaper referring to a source in the energy holding “Inter RAO UES”. Energy supplies may be limited until June 19 and ceased afterwards if Belarus does not start paying the debt, notes the newspaper.

The Belarusian government knows about this restriction, informs the newspaper. “Belenergo” has not been paying for energy since March. The debt totals about 1.5 billion Russian rubles (about 54 million dollars).

The edition’s interviewee reminded that Russia supplied from 400 to 500 MW to Belarus.
