Rule of Law index - Belarus stands between Burkina Faso and Indonesia
The international non-governmental organization World Justice Project presented the Rule of Law Index for 2012.
The Index was elaborated in
2010 to measure the extent to which countries adhere to the rule of law in
practice, informs gtmarket.ru.
This year, 97 countries and territories of the world were estimated with regard
to 8 key factors: limitation of powers of governmental institutions, absence of
corruption, order and security, protection of fundamental rights, transparency
of governmental institutions, following the laws, civil justice, and criminal
justice.
North Europe states headed the rating: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the
Netherlands. Germany, Austria, New Zealand and Australia made it to the top 10.
Belarus appeared at the 48th place, with Burkina Faso being one point ahead,
and Indonesia - one point behind.
Besides, Ukraine is on the
80th place, Russia - on the 86th. As for our other neighbours, Poland is ranked
21st, while Lithuania and Latvia are not in the list at all.
