Taxi-driver makes $8 thousand by betting on BATE wins
He staked 5 million roubles on the Barysau club before the matches with "Lille" and "Bayern".
The taxi-driver explained his actions by "idiotic patriotism". He has never been a fan of BATE and he does not usually stake:
“Ten of my friends staked on Bayern and I decided to stake on BATE just to spite them."
His friends did not win anything and he received a huge sum! He got 8.5 million roubles for every million he had paid!
Taxi-driver: “People say that they were lucky. But who knows? Maybe they played as good as they could."
He did not even watch the match on October 2 - he was at work. A Euroradio reporter managed to interview him in the city. He made 69 million roubles after the two matches. That's 8 thousand dollars - a fantastic sum. The taxi-driver says that he will not stake on the match with Valencia - it is enough.
The incident is an exception, rather than a rule, bookmakers say.
Bookmaker: "Those who wanted to root for BATE staked on it. But they turned out to be lucky! However, much more people staked on Bayern."
