Mіhaіl Zaharau: I have not been paid for being Olympic coach!

Mіhaіl Zaharau who was the manager of our national hockey team at the recent Olympic Games resigned right after the competitions in Vancouver had ended. The state hockey coach Henadz Stsyapanau has informed ERB about it.
Henadz Stsyapanau: “Mihail Zaharau was a coach only at the Olympic Games. He has to send one more application if he would like to take part in the world championship – as a new coach”.
A report conference of the Hockey Federation is supposed to take place on March 18. The new head of the organization will be elected there. Then a new coach will be appointed.
ERB has asked Mihail Zaharau if he is planning to take part in the world championship in Germany.

Mihail Zaharau: "To tell you the truth, I still have to think about it. I haven’t even considered it yet. It is not that simple as it seems…”
ERB: What do you think about the national team’s performance in Vancouver as a coach?

Mihail Zaharau: "They guys tried hard and struggled. However, they did all they could at that moment. I can tell you that the guys played well! The players revealed their best qualities and their pride in that match. Many editions wrote that there was no game at all – let them explain to me what a game is! Let them name the match where there was a good game. For example, here is a national team that has existed for 8 years – let them show me the game! You should not forget that two main players we usually base our team on could not join us at the tournament – Hrabouski and Kastsitsyn. If they could have done it, I am sure the game would have been better”.

ERB: You had credentials for the Olympic Games. Di you have a contract and when will it expire?

Mihail Zaharau: "I had no contract. We did not receive any award fee from the Hockey Federation. Only the Ministry of Sport paid us the sum indicated in the law. Not a single coach I worked with had a written contract. I have not been paid for my work. Nary red or cent!”

ERB: For your work as an Olympic coach?

Mihail Zaharau: "Yes, neither me, not the other coach has been pain anything”.

Let us remind you that our national team took the 9th position at the Olympic Games.
