EU suspects Google in manipulations with inquiries
The official Brussels wants Google to change the way they present the inquiries' results.
In case the American
company refuses to obey the Brussels' demands, it may be accused of breaking
the anti-monopoly law, reports Reuters.
The EU Commissioner responsible for competition Joaquin Almunia thinks that Google re-directs
users to its own servers, which mars the users' inquiries and diminish the
competition. According to the Commissioner, the company monetizes its search
and uses it’s dominate state at the market to get surplus profit.
The EU has been investigating Google's activity for two years by now. Besides,
the officials say that they are not interested in the search algorithms, which
are protected by a commercial secret. Brussels is only interested in the way
that "the company presents and promotes the search results". Also,
the EU tries to reveal flaws in the Android system, created by Google
specialists.
Meanwhile, Google's share in the Internet search segment makes 90% in
Europe.
