Eastern Partnership summit without Belarus?
David Kramer, the head of US-based Freedom House, says Belarus officials should not be welcome over human rights concerns
He thinks that representatives of the Belarusian authorities should not be invited to the meeting of the Eastern Partnership and EU if the current situation does not change, interfax.by reports. He would be happier to see civil activists and human rights defenders there, Kremer noted.
It is unreal to avoid speaking to the government, the American human rights defender said. However, Belarusian officials should not be allowed to do it in the Eastern Partnership, he thinks.
The EU and Eastern Partnership summit will take place in Vilnius in November. Lithuanian representatives are hoping to see EU leaders there.
