Azarenka studies 20 days a year and Dashchynski saw his groupmates

42 Olympic champions graduated from Belarusians State University of Physical Education and are still studying there now alongside with many famous sportsmen.

A Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka is called the most unique student as she lives in the USA and is a second-year student of Minsk Higher School of Coaches of BSUPE at the same time. The 9th racket of the world goes to classes 20 days a year, however teachers are okay about it, says the sports pro-rector Uladzіmіr Vasіleuskі.

“She comes to classes only 20 days a year. It is normal for a sportsman but it is not enough to become a coach. If she pays more attention to her studies she will not be able to achieve excellent results in sport. However, there are no more students like Azarenka in our school”.

ERB has also found the K-1 champion Zabit Samedau among students of the physical education university. An Olympic champion Andrei Aramnau is a second-year student. However, they say the weight-lifetr is not every good at his studies.

“He studies to the best of his ability, he is an average student. If he starts paying more attention to studies, he will not be able to reach a higher level in sport. Of cause, average sportsmen study better”.

However, a Paralympic champion Lyudmila Vouchak is an example of an excellent student. By the way, she lives in a university hostel.
Most sportsmen are studying to become coaches and teachers. If correspondence schools had obligatory assignment, Victoria Azarenka could be sent to work as … a school PE teacher for two years.

Almost all members of the national freestyle team are graduates of BSUPE: Alyaksei Hryshyn, Anton Kushnіr, Dzmіtry Dashchynskі, Asol Slіvets and her brother Tsimafei.

"All of them were good students and did not fail exams. Especially in my class. I teach political science and ideology. Slivets is one of the few students who succeeded in combining sport and studies”, - says the pro-rector Alyaksei Hatatulin.

As a rule, all sportsmen chose instruction by correspondence. However, a medal-winner of two Olympic Games Dzmitry Dashchynski was an internal student. They say he was a good student but met most of his groupmates only at the graduation party.

"We were not treated like ordinary students. Experience and knowledge also helped us. There were some subjects that were not very important and they did not demand us to learn everything. We met most of our groupmates after the graduation. I met most students when we were celebrating our graduation at a party”.

Many sportsmen are not prepared for ordinary life because they dedicate all their time to sport. That is why it is necessary to find optimal variants and combine sport with studies, says Uladzimir Vasileuski.
