Tennis: Azarenka boosts world No 1 ranking after Linz win
The Belarus' top seed is over 1000 points clear of Russia's Maria Sharapova in the WTA champions' race.
The victory in the Linz tournament brought 279 points for Victoria Azarenka who now has a total of 10 190 points in the champions' race.
Azaranka's closest rival - Russia's Maria Sharapova - trails behind with 9 115 points. American Serena Williams isin the third place with 7 900 points.
In the WTA rating, Azaranka's positions are even stronger as she is now on top with with 10 955 points. Sharapova has 9 135 points and is ranked second, and Serena Williams is in the third place with 7 900 points.
