Ales Byalyatski bids farewell to his father in mortuary

Human rights defender Ales Byalyatski could bid farewell to his father who died on December 24. The HR defender was delivered to the mortuary from the Zhodzina prison under reinforced convoy with escorting vehicles. The unprecedented security measures are also confirmed by the fact that the mortuary's territory was sealed by the police and third parties were not admitted to the parting procedure, informs the human rights center "Vyasna".

Ales Byalyatski was allowed to spend 10 minutes by his father's body. He prayed and said a few words to his close people. Ales found out that his father had passed away on the funeral day, on December 27.

Let us remind you, the human rights defender has been imprisoned since August 4. In the end of November, the court sentenced him to 4,5 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Byalyatski was considered guilty of major tax evasion.
