Activist detained in Navapolatsk
A local activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy wanted to go to the post office but was caught as soon as he left home.
A police car was waiting for Syarhei Malashenka near his house. He had been summoned to the police (he received a letter) earlier but was not going to go there.
Vitsebsk BCD coordinator Tatstsyana Sevyarynets told Euroradio:
"He discussed it with local human rights defenders and wrote a letter to the chief of police and asked him to explain why such a stupid and lawfully insufficient notice had been sent to him. But he was detained as soon as he went out."
Malashenka managed to make a phone call and informed that he had been detained for the picket organized in Navapolatsk on January 9. Activists took pictures with portraits of Ales Byalyatski on the threshold of the city court and police office.
