Remains of beheaded bodies found in ancient graves in Pinsk

Construction workers in Pinsk have found an ancient burial site during the reconstruction of the city's central square.
Authorities immediately halted the reconstruction works to allow archeologists to start the diggings. Experts have already recovered coffins with the remains of five beheaded people.

Archeologists suggest that those people could be participants of the 1648 uprising that was ruthlessly supressed by the Polish authorities. The city was totally ruined during the uprising. The today's central square is located on the site of the old town.

The burial site will be preserved by the local authorities. At least five years are required to carry out a proper digging of the site. The remains of the found bodies will be passed to a local Orthodox Christian church or reburial, reports ONT channel.
