Redundant officials’ dole reached Br8 million

134 thousand roubles was the average dole in April. However, the dole totalled 154 thousands in April 2013, Euroradio noticed.

The sum keeps increasing, the employment agency of Pershamaiski, Soviet and Central Districts is sure. It depends on the base amount, they said:

“The base amount increased by Br150 thousand in April. If you had worked for 12 months before you were sacked, your dole would total two base amounts or Br300 thousand.  If you have been jobless for a long time it will total one base amount. 10% will be added if you have minor children.”

However, you cannot argue with the statistical information of Belstat – the sums are different although the difference is only 2 dollars! The chief specialist of the department, Tatstsyana Fyodarauna, explained that the mass redundancy of state officials may be the reason for it:

“There is no other explanation but the mass reduction of the staff of state officials last year. They received the dole that totalled two their two-month wages up to June 15. You can calculate it if you like – their wages were 3.5 millions so they were getting 5-8 millions,” the specialist recalled the mass optimisation of the state apparatus ordered by the President.

Officials had been really in a hurry in April – they wanted to register in the employment agency before the adoption of the new law On State Service. A sacked official had the right to get a compensation of six (!) monthly wages back then. The benefit was cancelled by the new law.

That is why was the dole was so big last year. No officials have been made redundant this year and the sum has decreased.

“The sums were different because of the state service. One person could get 8 million. Now the dole is 150-300 thousand roubles!” the Employment Department noted. Furthermore, few people would like to get the dole of 15-30 dollars:

“There are few applications for the dole. People are trying to get new jobs as soon as possible. However, some people come to us just because of the dole.”

According to Minsk City Employment and Social Protection Committee, the jobs of drivers and engineers are in demand now (about 600 vacancies). There are also about 800 vacancies for cleaners.
