Protests against rent increase in Minsk markets
Entrepreneurs working at “Fashion Light” trade centre in Zhdanovichy organized a meeting yesterday. They decided to stop paying the rent. The decision was caused by the actions of the market’s administration – the rent was increased to 46 euro per 1 square metre.
One of the entrepreneurs’ leaders Ales Makayeu explained to ERB that similar meetings had been organized in other Minsk markets too.
“Nobody collected signatures in “Zhdanovichy”. We just decided to stop paying the rent till January 27 to settle this issue somehow. I also know that similar meetings took place in “Kaltso” trade centre in Malinauka and in “Maximus”. There was a great pretest against the increase of the rent organized by entrepreneurs in “Maximus”.
As ERB informed, the rent reached 1.5 thousand euro in some Minsk markets.
