Prakapovich: Foreign currency loans banned once and for all

Pyotr Prakapovich, head of the National Bank of Belarus (NBB), has announced that a ban on foreign currency loans to individuals has been imposed once and for all, Interfax reported.

Earlier, the NBB said that the ban was temporary, until January 1, 2011.

Prakapovich said that the measure was part of a dedollarization drive.

He added that the central bank seeks to limit the use of foreign currencies in Belarus as much as possible in the next two or three years.
