Popular Front member quits party to run as independent candidate

Andrei Yurkou who runs for parliament has suspended his membership in the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front in order to express protest against the expulsion of Ales Mikhalevich from the post of the party's deputy chairman, reports Radio Svaboda.
Yurkou's team is now gathering signatures to nominate him as an independent candidate. Yurkou said he would not renew his membership if Mikhalevich was not reinstated.

Yurkou claims that the leadership of the Belarusian Popular Front does not handle the problems of regional branches and does nothing to improve the party's image.
