Police launch criminal enquiry into vandal attack on Lithuanian embassy

The police have launched a criminal investigation into Friday's vandal attack on the Lithuanian embassy in Minsk, the city Main Police Directorate announced.

Investigators found 18 leaflets of Russia's far-left National Bolshevik Party (NBP) on the embassy's territory. In the leaflets, the NBP protests the adoption of a law banning communist symbols in Lithuania, Interfax reported.

Vandals threw bottles with paint and the leaflets on the embassy's territory, and painted NBP symbols on the fence surrounding it in the early hours of July 25.

The embassy stopped accepting visa applications until August 1.
