Parting with Valery Fralou in Minsk

A parting ceremony with Valery Fralou, activist of the social-democratic movement and general who planned to take part in the next presidential election, will be held in Minsk today. His son found his body in a rented flat. He noticed no signs of violent death.

The parting ceremony will start in Alsheuski Street, 12 at about 3.30 p.m., Fralou’s friend and colleague Syarhei Skrabets told Euroradio. The funeral will take place in Hrodna on November 12.

Valery Fralou was born in Minsk in 1947. He used to command a tank detachment and finally became a major-general. He became an MP at the beginning of the 2000s and was a member of the group Republic. He joined the social-democratic movement not long ago and was a member of the administration of the Social-Democratic Party Hramada. He tried running for President in 2006 but did not manage to collect enough signatures to become a candidate.
