Oxford invites Lukashenka to talk about speech freedom

The Oxford University's Discussion Society has announced an intention to invite Belarus president Alexander Lukashenka to the forum on the freedom of speech that is planned for late November, The Guardian reports.
The Belarusian president is expected to speak to Oxford students after David Irving, a historian who denies the Holocaust, and Nick Griffin, the leader of the British nationalists.

"The Discussion Society is known for its adherence to the freedom of speech. Althought I think that these people express horrible views, I am confident that Oxford students are intelligent enough to challenge and ridicule them," said Luc Trill of the Oxford's Discussion Society.

Nasha Niva writes that Oxford has not issued an official invitation yet. Meanwhile, British Foreign Office has warned it objects to seeing "Europe's last dictator" in England.
