Opposition activist in Homyel faces dismissal over involvement in politics
A private
company director gave Kantstantsin Zhukowski, a Homyel-based coordinator of the
unregistered opposition Belarusian Christian Democracy party, until August 1 to
stop his involvement in politics, threatening dismissal, BelaPAN reported.
Zhukowski
has been employed with the company Interhran as a fixed-route taxi driver for
about a year. The director said he was satisfied with Zhukowski's performance
in his job.
Zhukowski
intends to run for parliament in an election scheduled for September 28.
