New military unit may be deployed in Belarus in response to U.S. missile shield, Russian general says

A new military unit will be deployed close to "the western border of Belarus and Russia" in response to the installation of the U.S. missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic, said Nikolai Bordyuzha, secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, reported the Salidarnasts new site with reference to Gazeta.

Viktor Yesin, first vice president of the Russian Academy of Security, Defense, Law and Order Issues, said that Bordyuzha might have hinted at the possible deployment of Iskander-M missiles to Belarus.

He noted that Russia's long-range bombers may use the Machylishchy airfield outside Minsk.
