A new image for Eurovision

Has Zmicier Kadun indeed started changing its image for the Eurovision 2007 song context? There are rumors at the Belarusian Internet forums that his on-stage image will match his surname.

The first attempts of transformation into a real witchcraft doctor were observed at the February 4 concert in Spain, which became a success.

Zmicier was thankful for a warm reception and he said “I love Spain!” in Spanish during the show.

“What happened in Spain was an improvisation. The image that has been found is still to be worked on. I always like something new. I always like experimenting,” Kaldun said.

But, the exact image of the musician is not known yet. Zmicier is set to go to Moscow, where last touches will be given to his image.

One can say with confidence that the major task of stylists is to match the looks of the singer with his on-stage image.

“At any way, his image and his wear will be in harmony with the song. We are still working on his image.

I know for sure that Kirkorov’s stylist will work on his hair and make-up. As far as his costume is concerned, it will depend on the song. And, they are going to work on the song already in Greece.

Of course, there are a couple of excellent ideas. But they still remain a secret in order to astonish the public later,” said Nastassja Tsikhanovich, the chief of musical and entertainment programs at the Belarusian Television and Radio Company.

Kadlun’s path to Eurovision has been marked by several scandals in the media, including even the accusations of plagiarism.

Some critics believe that the refrain of Kaldun’s song Work Your Magic resembles the Last Exit to Brooklyn by Modern Talking. We have asked the Belarusian musician Pete Paulau if the songs resemble indeed.

“What I can hear exactly is that the refrain and the melody and the harmony have been simply copied. I cannot say if it is plagiarism, but I am confident that one cannot compose like this within one day. I think that those who composed this song used the composition of Modern Talking,” he said.

But the biggest uproar was created by rumors about the statement of the Viktar Drobysh Producing Center, which said that Kaldun was allegedly a weak singer and his participation in the Eurovision contest was not desirable in order not to damage the reputation of his producers. The previous participation of Natallia Padolskaya and Julija Savicheva was not successful.

But, Aliaksandr Tsikhanovich has refuted these rumors, describing them as a black PR.

“I think that it was a PR move. I don’t know about any rows with Dobrysh. Whatever they put on the Internet is not the truth. But, we liked it. This is good.

I like that negative things attract attention to singers. I was surprised, but I will take use of it. We have had no problem with Drobysh,” Tsikhanovich said.

It does not matter now whether there were any problems or not. It is clear now that Belarus will be represented by Zmicier Kaldun. Excuse me, simply Kaldun.
