Meeting in support of Tangeizer in Novosibirsk

People joined the metering For Freedom of Creativity in Novosibirsk , Russia. They protested against the situation in Novosibirsk Opera Theatre and the opera Tangeizer.

Richard Wagner’s Tangeizer was criticized by Orthodox priests– metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Tikhon Berdski. They complained to the Office of the Public Prosecutor because they thought that the performance was an insult to believers’ feelings. Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinski interfered and dismissed the director of the theatre (Boris Medzrich). The new director (Vladimir Kekhman) refused from Tangeizer.

Actors could not join the action because the director appointed a meeting for them at the theatre, BBC reports.

Journalists, priests and theatre goers spoke at the meeting.
