Makey: Lukashenka will decide who will go to Eastern Partnership Summit

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Latvia, which currently holds the EU presidency, Edgars Rinkēvičs, is on a working visit to Belarus. At the meeting with the head of the Belarusian diplomacy, Uladzimir Makey, on February 19, they discussed economic, political and cultural cooperation of the EU and Belarus.

The two politicians also discussed the issue of participation of Belarus in the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Riga this year on May 21-22.

In the past, the Latvian side also expressed their desire for Belarus to be represented at the summit of the Eastern Partnership at the top level. Alyaksandr Lukashenka never represented Belarus at the Summits - in Prague, Warsaw and Vilnius.

Euroradio asked Uladzimir Makey who will represent Belarus at the summit in Riga.

Makey: "The issue is being solved. The head of state will decide who will go to the summit."
