KGB arrests high-ranking police official

The State Security Committee (KGB) has arrested Ivan Shyshlo, the head of the Operative and Investigation Department at the Interior Ministry of Belarus.
The Ezhednevnik newspaper reports that he was in charge of the criminal intelligence. Shyshlo was also regarded as a new interior minister.

According to the newspaper, his arrest was decided at a special meeting at the Security Council.

Unconfrmed reports suggest that Shyshlo could be arrested for two reasons: an old case associated with the construction of a house or office abuse and embezzlement.
