Judge slaps fine on election official

A judge has imposed a fine of 700,000 rubels ($325) on an election official for issuing several ballots to a cattle farm foreman so that he will vote for several workers under his supervision.

Syarhey Vaznyak, an opposition candidate, caught the official, Natallya Nikitsina, a teacher by profession, red handed during early voting at the polling station in the village of Khodtsy on September 26.

Vaznyak failed to prove that the foreman had actually voted for his employees, reports the news Web site My.
