Journalist fired for officials’ mistake (photo)

The press release said: “Mothers whose children were born on the City Day with the help of deputy head of Minsk Executive Committee I. Karpenka will be awarded”. The press release was published in independent mass media and social networks. It resulted in numerous jokes. However, it was decided to sack the girl who sent it to independent journalists instead of punishing the authors of the press release. She was fired from the agency Minsk-News on October 1. The official reason is failure to pass the trial term.

Minsk City Executive Committee admitted its mistake but refused to protect the journalist, the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists reports.
