Interior Ministry: Navumaw has nothing to do with police any longer

The European Radio for Belarus has learned if the former interior minister is unemployed and what his health condition is.  The Interior Ministry still finds it hard to say goodbye to former minister Uladzimir Navumaw.

At the official site of the ministry, the general is still advertised as the minister in a parade uniform with decorations.

The European Radio for Belarus asked if Uladzimir Navumaw was still fighting criminals or planning how to meet demonstrators during the upcoming Chernobyl Rally. But the minister's office confirmed the resignation of Navumaw.

«The minister is not longer here; the new one has not been appointed yet. Navumaw has nothing to do with the public service or the police. He has retired».

But apart from the minister's seat, Uladzimir Navumaw also headed the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. Will he remain at this position?

«This are all lies", a colleague close to the situation refutes the rumors about Navumaw's resignation from the hockey federation. "He will answer the question on whether he will stay in the hockey or not after May 15 (the world ice hockey championship). Actually, he filed his resignation from the ministerial position only».

The European Radio for Belarus also asked about his health which, according to the official version, had deteriorated seriously.

Navumaw's colleague: “He attends every match of the Belarus team. (Minsk is hosting the U18 World Ice Hockey Championship).

ERB: “He feels OK, doesn't he?”

Navumaw's colleague: “Actually, he attends every match”.

The hockey federation explained that Uladzimir Navumaw continues to receive a salary as the chairman of the hockey federation. The amount is not revealed.
