Tens of thousands take part in Independence March in Warsaw (photo)

The march usually results in clashes with the police and organizers. Many football fans join it and never listen to organizers. It results in riots. Nevertheless, tens of thousands people come to Polish streets every year.

There were riots going on this year too – a few clashes with the police and an attack on a squat where anarchists live. A few cars and the squat were burnt down. When the column was passing the Russian Embassy, people started throwing stones at it. A car parked nearby was damaged.

The riots made the authorities forbid the manifestation. However, the column walked the whole itinerary.

39 people were detained. The organizers claimed that they managed to provide security during the march because the riots were not as large-scale as before.
