Illarionov: Russia may attack Kiev within days (video)

Andrei Illarionov, Vladimir Putin’s ex-adviser and President of the Institute for Economic Analysis, has given an interview to Civil Television in Kiev. He commented on the possible activation of military activities in Ukraine.

An attack on Kiev may be prepared, Illarionov thinks. It will be ‘a major attack’ and it will affect both Donets Basin and central Ukraine, the expert said. Andrei Illarionov does not exclude the terrorist threat and attempts to provoke riots in different cities including Kiev.

The disruption of Minsk negotiations by militants testifies to such plans, the Russian President’s ex-adviser thinks. Militants have also received reinforcement – soldiers, military equipment and even aviation, some sources report. The fact that he self-declared republics have announced a call-up of an army of 100 hundred thousand soldiers may be just an excuse used to hide the fact that Russia is sending dozens of thousands of soldiers there, Illarionov said. He also recalled the huge propaganda campaign in Russia spreading the idea that there is no reason to negotiate with the current Ukrainian government and that it is time ‘to deal with the whole Ukraine’ instead of Donets Basin only.

The attack may start within the next few days. It should not start later than mid-February, Illarionov told Civil Television. The aim of the attack will be the liquidation or weakening of the central Ukrainian government. Various means may be used for it: active military operations, terrorist acts and attempts to provoke mass clashes in Kiev streets.

Ukraine must win to stop the war, the expert claimed. By the way, Andrei Illarionov used to say that ‘an attack on Kiev had been prepared’ and that ‘Putin’s goal was Kiev and the whole Ukraine’ in March 2014.
