Georgia says recognition of Abkhazia, South Ossetia not in Belarus' interests

The recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia is not in the interests of Belarus, Georgia's deputy foreign minister Nino Kalandadze said in a statement. Georgia's foreign ministry issued an official permission to a team of Belarusian MPs to visit the two  breakaway republics. "We know that Russia has been putting pressure on Belarus and other countries. But we think that we are not endangered by Belarus' recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia at this stage", Kalandadze said.

According to the diplomat, Georgian-Belarusian relations are developing normally, and a meeting between two parliamentary delegations is expected by the end of the year.
