The
Belarusian foreign office has rejected the proposal by the Malady Front youth
group that the government declare August 23 a day for the commemoration of victims of
Communism and Nazism as recently recommended by the OSCE Parliamentary
Assembly. Valery
Varanetski, a deputy foreign minister, said in his official reply that the
foreign ministry considers the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's resolution
politicized and controversial.
